Internal Renovation to Private House

I am looking to have some internal work done to the downstairs of my house. Its a typical 4 bed semi and I would like to re-align the kitchen, dining room and tv room. Work will include knocking out 1 dividing wall, building another dividing wall, moving back door, closing up a window, replacing external double doors with a window, relocation of plumbing for kitchen and relocation of electric fittings.

My questions are
1. Are there any planning implications of what I propose
2. Do I need to engage an architect for this project. We have a fairly good idea of what we want.

If you are proposing to knock down an internal wall, I would say you definitely need a proffessional of some sort to advise you ( others here could be more specific) or you may be left with no upstairs!

There are four aspects of your project which may benefit from you taking professional advice.

Structure - architect or engineer
Planning - architect or planning consultant
Design - architect or interior designer
Pricing - architect or quantity surveyor

The architect should be able to advise on all aspects of the project.
If at any point specialist expertise is needed the architect will advise.
