Hi,
Does anyone know of any guitar instructors in the mallow area for one on one lessons? Preferably intermediate as I can play at a basic level already.
Thanks in advance,
Marty.

When you say 'basic' could you give me an idea?

I don't know anyone in Mallow but the reason I ask is that you may be at a sufficient level not to necessarily require tuition and may find you can learn instead from books and magazines which generally have free tutorial CDs and which will advise on particular styles etc

I only had about 25 lessons before I adopted a DIY approach - over 20 years ago.

Hi Caveat,
When I say basic I mean I can play lots of songs with the chords I call basic chords ie. A, Am, C, Cm, D, Dm, E, Em, F, Fm, G, etc. What I'm not great at is the tricky chords, my strumming technique (especially upward rythm ) and being able to bar chords. Find this difficult to self teach so was looking for a bit of help with someone with good know how.
If you can recommend any books on this let me know.
Cheers,
Martin.

I would highly recommend The Guitar Handbook by Ralph Denyer.

Great all round reference. Wise, well written and very informative on most aspects of acoustic and electric playing. After you have thoroughly digested Mr Denyer's tome, depending on your interest/style, you should maybe get further specialist tuition/references.

Re tricky chords, barre chords, strumming technique...practice...that's all it is. Easier said than done, but it's really all that is required.

Like riding a bike.:)
