What are your interests - sport, business, politics, entertainment etc. etc.?
Generally speaking I like the following:
Stephen Fry and Ricky Gervais are always a good start.
Eamon Dunphy and Marian Finucane interviews from RTE are good.
Talking History from Newstalk can be quite good.
"How stuff works" can be quite random and sometimes interesting. Perhaps 1 in 3 is worth a listen. Great if you have curious kids in the car. Although the whining american accents do grate from time to time.
The Bugle from TimesOnline is funny if you are a fan of John Oliver from The Daily Show. But the language is colourful to say the least.

For music, try The Word magazine podcast, full of tales from yore and usually well told.
For books, try the Book of the Week from the Guardian or the BBC World Service Book Club. Both usually get top-notch authors on who are good talkers as well.
Playback on RTE is a good catch-up of the week on RTE, otherwise as others have posted for current affairs.
For bite-sized laughs, both Gift Grub and Nob Nation podcast their sketches.

Also, for audiobooks, Audible.com were offering one free download a while ago, not sure if this is still current. Lord of the Rings dramatised by the BBC is available at €11.99 per book, each book is a 4 hour plus listen, if that's your bag.
