Interested in a house - butr worried might be in flood area???

I have seen a house that I like but I am worried that it may be in an area that has experienced flooding or that the house itself may have been flooded.

How can I check this out as I don't trust the agent or vendor to disclose this? I need to look into this before even viewing it?
 
Ask the insurance companies. They are well aware of the areas that are prone to flooding as their claim records will show.
 
I agree with john martin and Sue Ellen and if you are interested enough in the house you could also check with people living in the locality. They will be able to give you accurate information.
 
Is it possible for you to make contact with people in the local area and make enquiries. Factual local information can be good.
 
Flooding in area

Hi there

We were recently in the same position. I went to the drainage / water section of the local authority and asked them if the area had been subject to flooding.

We also asked the neighbours.
