Insuring household goods whilst in transit

I have bought a house. Whilst the builders are working on it my household things - furniture, kitchen equipment, t.v., computer, clothes and books, will be in storage. What kind of insurance do I need? The storage is a lock-up self-store which charges a monthly fee for use.

Home insurance from my last home ceased when I sold it. The goods are 'in transition', temporary storage, and the storage facility does not insure leaser's stored contents.

Thanks for your help.

No one is going to provide that type of insurance you require. It tends to not be worthwhile writing this cover on a standalone basis which is why its usually offered by storage facilities as they can provide a sufficient amount of customers to sustain it.

Next point - even though you didn't ask - is why don't you have house insurance or some form of fire insurance? You have an insurable interest in the property even though the builder is in there. And he isn't covering that for you.
