Hi I am looking at going back to the company who made me redundant in july as a sole trader offering labour as a welder only. They are currently waiting on a call from their insurance company to see if I would be covered on their policy, but I would like to be prepared if that is not the case. What type of cover would I need apart from personal injury? I will be on their premises using their equipment.

thanks in advance...

The company should be able to extend their policy to cover you, but it will probably cost them extra so they might not do it. You should be able to get a PL (public liability) & products liability quotation for around €700. YOu will need to get EL (employers) cover if you have someone working for you. You should also see if income protection is available to you, as you are now self employed and are not automatically entitled to disability benefit should you suffer an accident or injury and cannot work.
