Insurance policy for kids

My hubby and I are looking to take out life assurance for out two children but we want a policy that will mature when they are 18 so that there is money for college if that's what they decide to do.

Can anyone recommend a policy that we could take out.

Thanks

I'm not an expert on this area but my understanding as a layperson is that life assurance companies don't offer policies that effectively would financially benefit parents on the death of minor children.

If the object of the exercise is to save a regular amount until they're 18, there are lots of threads about suitable savings policies in the Savings and Investments forum.

I suspect your "life assurance" query relates to the old style of endowment policy which paid out an endowment at the end of the term provided that the child was still alive at 18. To the best of my knowledge, such policies are no longer available.
