My car is 11. However, unless I had to I wouldn't buy an 8 or 9 year old car. I bought mine when it was approaching it's 5th birthday (like a family member so it is!). I bought this from a BMW main dealer who gave me a comprehensive warranty. The car is a high spec and it had one owner and less than 50k miles on the clock. I paid with cash and have had free motoring since (apart from servicing and minor repairs (about 1,000 euro). Oh, and I own the car too!
So no change since it hit the 10 year mark?My car is 12 years old and I have very low insurance.
Off topic from the PCP thread but @Firefly have you had any bother getting insurance for a car of that age? My car is almost 10 years old and running perfectly. My one concern is that getting insurance may be more difficult as the car ages. Have you found this to be the case?
I tried everywhere and could not get a cheaper quote from any that would quote on a car that age, lots wouldn't even quote.
I wouldn't be declaring them, we never even got into the specifics, simply do you insure cars over 10 yrs old, yes or no. That to me is not a refusal to insure, it's a policy decision on behalf of the insurer as to what market they are targetting.
Mine is just coming 13 years old and unfortunately there has been a general increase in premiums so it's hard to say what factor age (of the car) has played. 495 pa comp with AXA through AIB as the broker. 1.9 TDiSo no change since it hit the 10 year mark?
