Insurance for hearing aids

As title suggests I am looking to insure new hearing aids which have cost 5600 euro.
Wondering has anybody managed to insure these all risk but independent of house insurance.

Also enquiring who you have your house insurance taken with if they have included hearing aids.

My house insurance is currently with AXA who will only insure them as I had previous aids insured with them but my house premium this year is quite high and I have spent the morning trying other insurers with no luck.

Zurich insures my mother's thr house policy. But this has been for a number of years and they may no longer offer it

very few companies will do all risks independent of home insurance. All Risks is usually an 'add on' to the home policy.

A quick Google suggests that there are several companies offering standalone insurance for hearing aids but I didn't go as far as to check what specific sort of risks and situations are covered.

Thanks Clubman
I will check some of them out but I know my audiologist told me most won't do them now but did in the past.

I am happy to insure with house insurance either but this too seems to be limited. Two brokers today told me to stick with AXA as they can't get anyone to include them.

I had my hearing aids insured together with my KBC house insurance a few years ago. When I went to replace the hearing aids during the claim process they wanted to only pay the amount less the grants I may receive from government. I refused stating the grants were subjective and not guaranteed. They eventually paid out the proper amount but when I went to reinsure the new ones they refused. Likely they refused because of the grant debacle but I also wondered if they wouldn't requote me simply because I made a claim.

If making a claim would reduce your pool of available insurers then it follows that it gets more expensive. I find insurance in general to be a scam and these days I'm happier to put the insurance fee into the emergency fund and take good care of my stuff. The longer you go without losing or breaking them the less the risk of being quids out if the event occurs and besides, hearing aid lifespan is about 6 years.. the insurance cash is needed for the next pair.

Usually something like 1-2% of the value of the item .
I remember looking to add bikes in the past where they were adding ~10% of the item value, but running through one of the quote engines, specifying €5k cover for hearing aids added €136 to the price.

ive got a lot of stuff on all risks (watches, wifes jewellery etc) and its pretty low % wise, if it was anywhere 10% i wouldnt be insuring!!

That's the conclusion I took at the time, though this was a few years back now. I think the high rate of bike thefts in Dublin made insuring good ones prohibitive.

Your loss would be the cost of the new aids LESS any grant. I don't see they were wrong.
