Insurance complaint: What to do?

hi there,
I hope this isnt too long winded!!!

During my g/f trip away she ended up in a spanish hospital requiring emergency surgery.

Que; ringing the insurance people..... this is were the clamity of errors started to occur.

1) took them ages to find accomadation for us, stated we would be placed in a hotel with B+B until g/f was fit to fly, this then resulted in us paying for Breakfast on leaving hotel as insurance company had not paid for it

2)booked flights for us to fly back to dublin, 12 hrs before flight they stated we could not fly until medical tests were carried out, even though having fitness to fly cert from Hospital.
Didnt get clearance to fly until 3hrs before flight all due to the health department not communicating with the rep which was dealing with our case.

Every time they said they would be in contact, it was always us re-ringing to get updates on the suitation.

Who or to what body can i complain to about this treatment. I would like to hear also of anybodys similar complaints etc.
Even if our claim is settled i think the way we were treated especially in a stressful suitation was not apporiate can i take this further?

Complain to the company in question first. If you don't get a satisfactory response then complain to the [broken link removed].
 
make sure that you complied with policy conditions. did you contact insurer either before or immediatey on admission to hospital?

Have you complied with all conditions relevant to hospitalistaion.medical expenses cover?
