Insulation not up to Regs

Just looking for advice.

Our house was built about 9 years ago, we always knew it was badly insulated, loses it's heat very quickly.

However, recently I've investigated a bit more with a scope camera and have found large voids, with no insulation whatsoever. Just plasterboard-void-slate.

We have obviously been losing an awful lot of heat through these spaces all these years.

There is going to be significant costs to get these spaces insulated. (They are quite inaccessible)

So, does anyone know if I have any comeback with the builder or Homebond?
I know it's 9 years!!!!!

Thanks

I don't know what your legal chances are with the builder, is he still in business?

Homebond covers structural defects, lack of insulation would not be a structural defect in my opinion.

He's still in business.

It's not structural, but it wasn't built to building regulations, but we had no way of knowing that until I started cutting into hidden areas.

You're very unlikely to have success in any legal challenge after all this time.

Who inspected the building on your behalf and signed-off on it being compliant? In the areas with plasterboard/void/slate, is this in an attic space, and if so, does the space meet the minimum requirements to be considered habitable?

I'm sure you're aware the regs in relation to insulation have changed in the interim.
