Hi,

I am thinking of registering for a course in Dublin Business School. It is a 1 year part time course in Business Studies. The awarding body of this course is Institute of Commercial Management.
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the awarding body.
Obviously I have checked their website and asked DBS questions about them but I would like an independant view. What I would like to know is,

Do companies recognise the ICM as an awarding body?
Has anyone done an ICM course previously?

Any other information would also be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason.

Hi Jason,

This year there are a huge amount of courses endorsed by the ICM in various different colleges across Dublin, it's something i've noticed an awful lot.

My company has said that they would recognise any qualification from the ICM, but I confess to being a little wary of them as well. I don't know if contacting the (not sure of this) awarding body for FETAC or equivalent to see what third level equivalent it brings you to.

Sorry I can't be of any more help

I have never heard of this Institute and in many years of recruitment, I have never heard of a client specify that they would want this training.

Hi Mo3art,

Would you mind telling me what line of business you are in?

Thanks,

Jason.

Hi Jason,

The most i would be comfortable to tell you is that I work for a national branch of an international firm! Sorry about that.

Just to add to my previous comments, I finally decided on a course in the DBS and when I got my correspondence from them - it seemed to infer that the DBS also trades under the ICM name. If this is the case, it would explain why all these courses are popping up over Dublin this year with affiliates.

While I didn't decide on an ICM course in the end, good luck in your choices!
