Installing smart TRVs

My central heating has multiple zones which I can control via the ember app for timing and the individual zones only but not temperature.
I’m looking at installing smart TRVs in rooms which I can control via an app on my phone. The existing thermostats for zone control dont suit the rooms we want temperature control for. For example: the top floor thermostat is in a bedroom we rarely use but the bedroom next door doesn’t have a thermostat.
I was hoping to buy some smart TRVs and run them off an app without purchasing a hub or other parts if possible. What have you done that is the most cost effective and easy to run?
 
Drayton Wiser system. You do need to install the Drayton Hub, but thats not too hard.

If I can recommend a YouTube channel, CharlieDIYte has some good videos on it.

Not necessarily cheap; but very controllable from room to room.
 
Why don't you move the thermostat into the room you use?

I have an ember system, and the thermostats are batter powered and just clip into a fitting you screw into the wall. No need to get an electrician out
 
I've switched to tado. It gives more control, requires a a hub, and sub for geo fencing

Probably has some bf deals. I bought the hub kit off screwfix and trv sets from amazon. This was the cheapest route at the time

Had an s plan config, and installed myself
