Inspection Trips/When to go?

Hi folks

I know that before investing in any of the countries that people are mentioning on here that it would be wise to make a visit. And probably best to make the visit on your own time and not with someone who has their own interests to look after.

I was thinking of going over to Bulgaria to check it out. But would I be best to go when it is probably at its busiest, especially the sun resorts and that. Places such as Sofia and that, it wouldn't really matter.

I was thinking of going in December, to the coastal areas. Would this be a pointless exercise? Or would I see what it really is like. What do yous think?

Thanks

I have just returned from a viewing trip to the Sunny Beach area of Bulgaria with Platinum ( [broken link removed] ). It was a very enjoyable no pressure weekend where we were shown all types of property. If you are interested in a Bulgarian property why wait till December. Platinum are having another viewing trip in September. Even if you don't see anything that suits you at least you will have got the feel of the place and be more informed about it's potential.

hattrick, I know my colleagues always advise viewing twice, once in and once out of season, or the best alternative is outside of the season (winter/autumn) that way you see what's going on outside the "pretty picture" version and also you can get sensible prices, at least that's the way in Croatia.

Have you hot read about the problems in sunny beach etc? Overdeveloped, crap rent, poor resale market etc. Sunday times did an article a few weeks ago highlighting the issues.

Good advice!! Have also heard bad reports on Sunny Beach even before Times printed its article.

There was a thread here from a guy who went to Sunny Beach on a viewing trip, think he likened it to hell or something, before any talk of bias comes in, I've been around Bulgaria, I really liked parts of the country, especially down near Turkey, mainly because it wasn't Turkey, but there are some lovely spots and countryside.
