“John”, whose mother passed away when he was 10 years of age, through the courts came under legal guardianship of his grandparents, jointly with his father.

John’s mother and father were never married and were not together for many years.

John lived solely with grandparents and was raised by them (the guardians)

When he became an adult he bought his own house and moved out.

Fast forward to present day. Both grandparents have passed away, the last one recently. The grandparents house has been left to him in the will. What tax free threshold group does he fall under, A or B.

Probably A, but get appropriate professional advice to confirm this, based on the specifics of his situation.
