Hi

For my newbuild, I am considering putting in window-only ventilation i.e. my standard concrete built house will not contain any wall vents.

Each of my windows will allow 4000p.a. (Pascale) of ventilation.

Could anyone direct me to a website where I can calculate the ventilation requirements in Pascale terms per room size e.g. for a bedroom 5mx5mx2.6m the P.A. should be 12000 p.a.

Thanks for your help. Pudzer

This is the relevant building regulation....

Habitable Rooms
1.5
In a habitable room other than a utility
room, a kitchen or a room containing a kitchen, the
following provision for ventilation should be
adequate:
(a) a ventilation opening suitable for background
ventilation having a total area not less than
6500 mm
2, and
(b) a ventilation opening suitable for rapid
ventilation having a total area of at least 1/20th

of the floor area of the room.

pascal is a unit of pressure, im not sure how this can translate to ventilation measurments.... but the window manufacturer must ensure it complies or you wont get it 'signed off'....
