Independent Mortgage Advisor (Donegal)

I am currently thinking about moving my mortgage to the First Active Offset. I have spoke to FA and their advisor sold it well to me.

However, I think that before I proceed I should take some independent advice to make sure I have considered all my options.

In the North I visited the odd independent financial advisor before starting on the housing market. These were always free and I was wondering if there is a similar service in the RoI.

Thanks.

If they were free, who paid their wages?

As far as I know, brokers in NI operate on the same basis as in the Republic. They get paid commission by the lenders and if you buy insurance products from them, commission by the insurance companies also. Alternatively, by mutual agreement you could arrange to pay a fee.

Appreciate that they do get paid commission so technically they probably aren't 100% independent and will push certain products.

I am more than willing to pay for advice, its just I don't know of any advisors in Donegal.
