Hi,

Any advice here would be really appreciated.

Worked a Summer job in a bank for four years after my leaving certificate and while I was at college...I finished with the bank in summer 2006 but never followed up getting a p45 as i wasn't sure if i would return.

Whilst doing my masters last year I undertook occasional work with the college as a tutor. I never went back to the bank in Summer 2007.

Last September I started a job as a substitute teacher in a secondary school and have been working there to date. I have been taxed on an emergency basis whilst in this current employment. In looking to claim back this tax i registered with reachservices online and wanted to request a P21. My employment details held online however, show the bank still to be my current employer. How do I rectify all this?

Re: quandry

Can you change to an appropriate thread title.

Contact banks payroll dept and ask did they submit a P45 first. Then ask have they kept a copy of it.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the bank at this stage. You should have completed a Form 12a when you started your employment with the school. They may not have submitted a valid P35 in relation to your employment. Perhaps they have not done it at all (not uncommon for schools, btw), perhaps they have submitted an incorrect pps no. for you. You need to bring this to their attention & have them rectify it asap.

I thought a Form 12a was only submitted when it is your first employment?

If you call the revenue and quote your PPS no and the employer number of the place you are currently employed in, they can transfer your credits on a week 1 basis. At least then you would be getting your correct weekly pay while you try to sort out the situation with your P45 from your previous employment.

Your P45 of 2006 has no relevance to your tax credits in 2008 hence the need to fill up form 12a.
Since you did not receive a P45 from your bank job you are technically still in their employment so you need to follow that P45 and perhaps there could be a tax refund due to you. Check!!!!
