Incoming direct debit question?

You can certainly request that your bank ´kicks back´ the payment.

Why not contact the person and ask them to cancel it?

As per the Direct Debit Scheme Guarantee you can cancel a direct debit by writing to your bank in good time. You should also advise the Originator.

If its actually a Direct Debit coming into you're account then you are set up as an originator and you are actually taking that direct debit from the payers account each month...this can be cancelled by contacting your bank...

However if this is a standing order payment you are receiving each month, which is more likely, then you will need to contact the person who is sending it to you as they will have to cancel it on there end.
