Income tax on final year rental income

Situation: the tenancy for a property ended in the middle of last year and since then has been occupied by the landlord as their main residence

As I understand it you do not have to file an income tax return for the final year of renting a property provided you have no other income from any source, apart from your PAYE income

My question is - If you are self employed and have to file an F11 for your self employed income are you still required to declare the final years rental income?

I don't know where you got that impression - it's not true.

That's the last year capital gains exemption,I think.
