Income Protection payout time

Hi, I am a HSE employee with over 30 years service. I had a medical episode in January 2024 which renders me unable to return to work for now.. I am not sure if I will ever be able to return. I have a union-backed salary protection policy since 2005 . I have put in a claim in March but am still waiting for any payout. If I hear nothing in the next week, it will be the end of November 2024 at the earliest . I was told 13 weeks before payment which was fine, but it is now well past double that time. Anyone else have similar experience or advice?

Sorry to hear about your medical episode. Is this a Cornmarket Income Protection scheme underwritten by Irish Life? It's possible that they have written to your doctor and are waiting for some medical report. But they should have updated you on what's been happening. What's the last you heard from them?

I'd contact Cornmarket and ask for an urgent update on what's been happening with your claim over the past seven months for starters. Put your query in an e-mail to keep a written record.
