Your best buy threads have been a life saver to me, Thank You and please keep them up.
Can I suggest that you add a bullet point about checking out the local credit union to the further information section on Instant Access and Notice Deposit Accounts or maybe on all 3 as I have just realised my local credit union can currently give me the best rate for the product I need at the moment.

Hi Hen,

Thanks for the comments and the suggestion.

The purpose of the best buy thread is to guide people towards the best rates on offer. The vast majority of time banks offer better rather than credit unions. Also, credit unions normally offer dividends rather than set deposit rates.

What rate did your credit union offer? Was it via a dividend or a set deposit rate? Which credit union?

Thanks.

Hi Jackal

That is interesting. It might be worth compiling a list of Credit Unions paying over 1.5% or more consistently.

I am guessing that it's the likes of CANA (Revenue Commissioners), The Public Service, St Raphael's(Gardaí), and the ESB CU.

I have added a note to the effect that although the rates on credit unions are normally low, it is worth checking investigating your local rates.
