Anybody watching this. Its on 3e really good.
Gabriel Byrne is a psychiatrist in new york and each episode is an individual session
Havent seen GB in anything in a long time,as usual he gets to act with his own accent !
How does 3 e get a great show like this
Maybe RTE could commission an irish version

Yeah i'm watching it and loving it as well...pedantic point...he's a psychotherapist not a psychiatrist!

I just adore the way his Dub accent comes out really strongly mixed with a kinda Bronx accent. He's very cool in it. It's also great the way 3e repeat the whole weeks' episodes on a Sunday night.

Whats the difference exactly ? One gives you drugs and talks to you the other can just talk to you ?

My understanding is that a psychiatrist may legally advertise as a psychotherapist but a psychotherapist may not legally advertise as a psychiatrist. All angels are men but not all men are angels scenario.

Yes it's really good. Another success for HBO. Gabriel Byrne is so cool/laid back in the part. The different shades of his accent make him interesting.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who has done the full medical training and then went on to specialise in psychiatry (like the one in the Sopranos!). A psychotherapist is a counsellor who has trained usually in a particular form of counselling. They can't prescribe meds or other 'treatment' but will use different forms of talking therapies with their clients. Both have their own uses and in an ideal system a combination of both areas of expertise could/should be used.

Anyway, it's a great programme!

I stuck with it for 4 weeks, but just got tired of it by week 5. It moved far too slowly for me, I'm afraid, though the idea was a good one!
