Importing Art into Ireland - VAT question.

I'm thinking of buying some Peter Lik Limited Edition Photographs from his gallery in Australia. The gallery has said the Ireland (and the UK) are the only countries where the images can be sent and not incur taxes.
Does anyone know if this is true? Is there an exemption from VAT for art being imported into Ireland?

There is no exemption in irish vat law for importing art. It will be subject to the same vat as art sold in ireland generally 13.5%
