Does anyone know if customs check items coming from the UK i.e. can you end up paying import taxes similar to purchasing items from America?
 
If you have paid UK VAT for items for personal use then there should be no additional taxes as far as I know. If you are importing stuff for resale then that's a different matter.
 
There is free movement of goods within the EU as far as I understand it.
 
If I order something online from the UK (an LCD TV for 750 sterling + VAT), pay for it using my personal Credit Card, get it delivered to to my work address and have access to my work VAT Number, do I have to pay VAT on the item?
