Hi,
I'm thinking of bringing in a 1970 VW bus from South Africa. A woman in customs told me that the bus may not have to pay any point of entry duties as it would be classified as an antique, providing it hasn't been modified from its original state. But she wasn't completely sure. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks, but doesn't answer the antique issue though.

From this thread on boards.ie it appears that classic car imports from outside the EU may attract Import duty.

As suggested in that thread, the VRO might be the place to get the definitive answer?

Import duty isn't a VRO issue. Ask customs and Excise. I thought it was 10% of cost, insurance and freight.
