Hi friends,

As the prices for the houses going down my BP goes up. I'm now in trouble please advice.

In Sept 2006, I signed a contract with the deposit of 10K for getting a duplex house in Parkview Drive apartments in Poppintree Road, Finglas. The house was priced at 385K. The price for the duplexes in that area now at 340K range, which is really upsetting me.

Please give me a practical advice what should I do now?

Thanks,
Ensonique.

See 'House Valuation below purchase price' which was a thread on here a few days ago.

If you like the area and plan to stay in the house for the next 10 years then no problem. Continue with the purchase. If you think you'll be living there for only a couple of years then cut your losses.

You could always ask for your deposit back but since you've signed a contract you may not get it. Check with your solicitor if the contracts have been exchanged yet.If not exchanged yet then you can walk away from it with your deposit returned..
