I am not sure if this topic has been covered before, so apologise in advance if it has.

i was diagnosed with depression last year in June, and was supposed to have gone and seen a councillor as requested by my doctor. I did not hear anything from the NHS and got deeper and deeper into my depression whilst still at work, in the process being called in three times to have meetings on my performance from work. in February of this year i was called in again, in regards to my performance, and went back to my doctor to see why i have not been contacted by the NHS, it seems that there was a communication error between my doctors and the NHS in regards the correct or shall i say incorrect paper work not handed in.

3 weeks ago, there was another meeting at work, and I decided it was best to resign, as my current situation was not improving, and it was affecting my work.

bare in mind I was at the company for 7 years with out any prior incident.

I would like to know if I will be allowed some sort of benefit? I have had several job offers from companies who have heard of my departure from my current work place, but have not returned their enquiries as I am not sure if I will be able to fully commit to said offers.

any help will be grateful.

Are you based in the UK? Your use of "NHS" suggests that you might be.

This is an Irish-based forum, information posted on welfare entitlements is based on the Irish system only.

I don't know if this website will be of any assistance to you : https://www.gov.uk/benefits-adviser

If you are available for work then you may be eligible for Jobseeker's Benefit. Because you resigned, you may have to serve a disqualification period (max of 9 weeks).

If you are not currently available for work, you may be eligible for Illness Benefit.

Both are based on PRSI contributions.

People who are claiming Illness Benefit for 6 months can apply for Partial Capacity Benefit, which allows them to work part-time while retaining a portion of their SW payment. While this may not be an option for you now, it could be something to consider in the future.
