My husband is on jobseekers due to no work in the construction business and i myself is on illness benefit were currently both getting €221.20 does anyone know can we cliam the qualified adult rate cause we are on such low income! we have 2 children and we claim €11 each for both of them!! someone said that we should be entiled to more!

Does the info on www.welfare.ie about qualifying conditions not clarify/answer your query? SW are usually good about advising you on what you're entitled to once they have sufficient information from you to assess matters so don't be afraid to ask. Failing that try www.citizensinformation.ie . Would you qualify for Family Income Supplement? I presume that you're claiming Child Benefit and (if applicable) Early Childcare Supplement in respect of the kids?

The bad news is there no qualified Adult here as neither of you are dependant on the other. You each have a payment in your right. The payments appear to be correct but if you have problems making ends meet perhaps you should talk to the Community Welfare Officer at your local Health Centre. If there are outstanding bills ot rent or Mortgage he may be able to help.

As for Family Income Supplement that is based on employment of at least 19 hours a week.
