Illness benefit

Hi, I am on continued illness benefit due to a health problem for nearly 18 months now, I also lost my job, the question I want to ask is if I ask doctor to let me go on job seekers benefit and if my condition does not improve could I then start on illness benefit for a further 2 years from date I signed off job seekers benefit.

If you move from Illness Benefit to Jobseekers and back to Illness Benefit, you would only be eligible to claim Illness Benefit for the remaining days of the 2 years entitlement.

Once you've exhausted the 2 years entitlement, you must have 13 paid PRSI contributions between Illness Benefit claims to requalify for another 2 years.

Would Invalidity Pension or Disability Allowance be an option for you if the condition/Illness is long term.

Would Invalidity Pension or Disability Allowance be an option for you if the condition/Illness is long term.

Possibly invalidity pension as I think disability allowance is means tested and i might not qualify, thanks for advice to date.
