Hi,

My wife is ill and unable to work her illness benefit has ran out, she has now applied for Invalidity pension while there is a waiting list and backlog should she still send in monthly sick certs to the department of social and family affairs, I found the below information from citizens information website, can anyone actually tell me what does this mean and how would this help her PRSI record?

"You should continue to send in medical certificates to the Department of Social and Family Affairs even if benefit is not payable, as credited contributions can be awarded to protect your PRSI record"

Thanks
Chris

Yes keep sending them in until/unless you are instructed not to by SW

Excuse me if this just sounds nosey but who pays for the certs. if you are in between disability and invalidity?

I am self employed and not earning anything of note from my shop. My husband is in the UK and earning £480 per week which is divided between UK expenses (flights, train, oyster card, food and rent). The remainder is banked here in Ireland to cover loan and hp of van. I have been diagnosed with cancer and am awaiting op. He is to return home to look after us = no income at all. As self employed what can we claim, if anything, to tie us over for the next six months. I have MC1 from doctor and am to see CWO soon for Supplementary Welfare. Are they okay to deal with or do they make things difficult? Help please anyone?
