Dammit. Made my first visit to Ikea. Was quite impressed by quality there BUT the one thing I was hoping for was replacement mirrored sliding doors for my bedroom wardrobe. I want to change the doors but use the existing carcass and do it on a budget. What they have there looked good quality but they don't do the taller height doors in a mirror finish - how frustrating is that ?!? I need them floor to ceiling, somewhere around 236mm.
Are the B&Q doors - sliding, mirrored - a good alternative?
I don't think I can afford "Sliderobes" type prices.

Re: Ikea - Sliding Mirrored Wardrobe Doors, not to ceiling height!

Why don't you put the sliding doors from Ikea on a base (Plinth) You could then run a filler piece from the ceiling down to the top of the sliding door. Your old carcass is more than likely on a base plinth already so it would not really alter things.

Re: Ikea - Sliding Mirrored Wardrobe Doors, not to ceiling height!

Ikea wardrobe doors are only designed to fit onto the appropriate Ikea carcass all the holes are pre-drilled in exactly the right spot etc. You'd have no come back if the plinth idea didn't work As far as I can recall, the arcass part wasn't too expensive (door was the main cost), then you can easily add in all their shelves, wire racks, hooks, shoe rails etc.

Re: Ikea - Sliding Mirrored Wardrobe Doors, not to ceiling height!

Hmm - ikea max door height for mirrored doors is 200cm, height I want is 236cm . . . 36cm is a BIG plinth/filler!

Know absolutely nothing about these but think I saw some yesterday in both Woodies and B&Q.

Ikea have "add on" units that you can put on top of your sliding door units (http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/catalog/products/S39835962). But the add-ons seem to be 50cm high, which is too high for you. You could just board up the gap at the top, or you could leave it open and use it for storage (I've done this myself). If you put a row of the same boxes or baskets up there it would look neat enough. And of course Ikea have both of those ;)

B&Q's sliding doors are 2250mm High, so these would prob suit you best. I fitted a set a couple of weeks ago and i thought the quality was pretty good for the price!
