I purchased some food in the small food shop beside the IKEA checkouts. The items were priced but when I had gone through the checkout I noticed that I was charged the display price but I was also then charged a 13.5% tax on some of the food items purchased (cinnamon cakes). I was under the impression that where an item is priced on in the display area then that is the price you should be charged at the checkout? Am I right or wrong on this?

You're correct that display price is the price you should be charged. You say you were charged the display price but some items on your receipt are shown as vatable. I suspect that you have been charged the display price on these also and the receipt merely reflects the vat for sales analysis purposes. We're you charged more than the display price on these items?

Thanks. You are right. They have broken down the price befote tax and after tax. But I was charged the after tax price as per display.
