HI
I need to get someone in to mow my lawn using my own ride on lawn mower. If that person has an accident, are they in a position to sue me? Does my house insurance cover that? IF I got someone else in with their own equipment would that make any difference? It's basically getting someone in every now and again to do an odd job including mowing but just wondering if something went wrong would I be covered.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks.

If you got some one in using their own equipment if would take away part of your problem. The fact they are using your ride-on mower leaves you open in the event the machine is defective. If they injured themselves whilst on your property as a result of your negligence they would still be in a position to sue you.

However your house insurance should cover you for odd job stuff but you will need to check your policy wording.

If its a ride-one mower why not just do it yourself?!

Yeah!!! Even Forrest Gump was a billionaire and rode his own ride on!

But as a rule of thumb - let anyone servicing or maintaining your property supply all equipment
