Identity Fraud: Lost/Misplaced some important personal information

Hi,

I am not sure if this is under the correct topic if not please feel free to move.

I think I have done something really stupid. I had an envelope which contained my driving licence, insurance certificate and accident report form from the Gardai which I have now misplaced or lost!!!

If I had lost it somewhere and somebody picked it up do you think that they could use this information to steal my identity and rake up a load of credit under my details......... I am assuming YES and I am a bit worried. The envelope has being missing now since Friday but I only reaslised yesterday that is wasn't where I thought it was.

Any advice on what I should do?

You should contact the Gardai about the passport as you need a leeter from the Gardai in order to get a new one issued. Not sure about the others though.
 



ring the insurance company - someone may have found the docs and contacted them. Also ring gardai and report everything as missing - ring tax office to get vehicle licence cancelled and new one issued.
