Ideas for a 30th Birthday?

My lovely boyfriend is turning 30 this June and I would like to organise a great party for him! I believe a friend of his is also celebrating his 30th a couple of days after so it will probably be a joint birthday.

So far, I was thinking of organising a rural pub crawl. Has anybody had any experience with those?? Any contact numbers would be very much appreciated.
Also, any other suggestion would be welcome! Thanks!

Would you not try organising a go-kart session or paint ball then all go to one pub afterwards to relax
