When applying for my mortgage recently, I discovered that I have an ICB hit. It relates to a credit card I held with Tesco Bank back in 2009. I remember the card and I remember paying it off before I moved overseas for two years. I thought that was the end of it but apparently not.
My broker said he has plenty of lenders willing to give me a mortgage if I can provide and explanation for the poor credit rating. So I wrote to Tesco Bank (in Glasgow) enclosing a cheque for £10 for a 'Data Access Request' which I hope will explain what exactly the issue is and how I can resolve it....(I have a feelling it's the govt. levy but I can't be sure.)
It's now 3 weeks since I posted the letter and despite two phone calls to Tesco Bank to query the issue, I am no closer to getting my mortgage. They keep fobbing me off saying they'll call me back. Is there another way I can sort this out?
