I sold my house in June, but I have got a notice from Revenue for the LPT?

A relative sold her house in June and I told her that she did not need to worry about the LPT as the Revenue would be notified automatically via the stamp duty office of the change of ownership.

But she has received a demand for LPT.

I told her that she did not have to worry about it, but she said that they might take it directly from her pension.

She can log on to the LPT website, but I don't think that there is any option to say that she no longer owns the house.

A very good way of dealing with this is to go on to the Property Price Register website

You can search against the property - if a purchase deed was stamped, the date and price will show up.

I suspect there are just a few glitches in the LPT process that need ironing out.

If all fails, talk to the solicitor who acted and they can confirm the position to Revenue

I have a similiar problem. We sold a house at the end of August but got a bill for property tax for 2014. All taxes are paid for 2013. Solicitor says they cant do anything as they have submitted everything to Revenue.

I rang revenue and they told me to email them the details and they would amend the account. I have seince emailed them twice and rang them and they have still not updated the record.

I dont know what to so as I have been billed for two houses. My own PPR and the other house that I sold at a very considerable loss. I cant afford to pay for both but if I give my bank details the Revenue will deduct both from my bank account

Your solicitor should sort this. That is what you are paying them to do.

Nonsense. This is not the solicitor's fault, it has nothing to do with the solicitor, it is an error with Revenue.

I have suggested that a solicitor will very likely assist in circumstances where it would be helpful. That's very different.

What I did earlier this year I emailed revenue with the particulars of the house that I wanted deleted. I gave my name, address of the property, the property id and the reason for the removal of the property and all was done in about 2-3 weeks

I think you need to stop worrying, you are quite clearly not liable for the tax, you do nothing and wait until revenue get around to your email. Just send them a monthly reminder until they sort it out. I imagine with the debacle with this tax, and the fact the deadline is currently, plus they are just after receive a load of income tax returns, that your property will be put to the bottom of their list for now.
