My nephew got an i-pod for Christmas and is having the following problem - although it is a 2GB i-pod and should hold up to 200 songs it will only take about 80. These 80 songs take up approx. 600/700 MB and it keeps saying that 1.1GB is being taken up by 'other' .He cannot clear this 'other' - whatever it is ..........Any ideas?????

It might be worth enabling it for Disk use i.e. as a USB Flash drive and seeing what is on it? (If you do this, you have to remember switch off the Disk Use option again if you want to sync again using iTunes.)
This happened to an ipod I got in November and I ended up having to take it back for a replacement. I had been using an ipod mini 4gb no problem but when I tried to sync the 4gb ipod nano to the same music files, there was a massive amount of space taken up by 'other' - so exactly the same problem as your nephew is having. Did a couple of searches to see if I could find a quick fix - couldn't - so took it back. No quibble replacement from Apple.
yeah you should be able to register online with them to register your machine. you get an apple account from them and then you can go to their site and register the fault with your machine. i did it with my ipod mini last year and got a replacment within a week.
ring the apple helpdesk..they should be able to help you straight away but make sure you get the name and number of the person you deal with and also a case number if u need to call back.
