Hi

Bought an apartment a few years ago and was duly given the tulajdoni lap. The passport number that was used during the purchase is due to expire and I have been advised that I will be issued with a new passport no. Will I need to inform the Budapest/Hungarian authorities of the new number to update the ownership info on my apartment?

No. Hold on to the old one if you want for piece of mind, but there's no need.
