HRV what type of pipes

We are going to get a Mechanical Heat Recovery Ventilation system installed in our new build. We are getting conflicting advice on the use of solid and flexible pipes and are not sure which to go for.
Can anybody tell me which is best and any experiences you have with the HRV system.

Everything I've read suggests that rigid metal pipe is the way to go. The flexible type makes the installation much easier for the suppliers so it's quite popular with them.

It's what I'll be using.

Our heating Engineer said metal, flexible can tear hence useless.
