HP printer not printing black

My HP printer stopped printing black despite a fairly new cartridge so I replaced it and still no joy. Some research was done and I discovered HP have added an update last week which is causing the problem and they are listening to complaints.
Be warned if your black is not printing there's no point wasting your money.
No suggestion of a recall or any redress

It might be helpful to say what printer you are talking about

Are you using third-party cartridges?

and OS? Windoze, MacOS, Linux, etc

HP 5520 and yes I have used generic cartridges like many others

We finally sacrificed our ink cartridge printer in favour of a Laser printer. Too many issue with the ink etc.

Best decision we ever made.

HP is known to bring updates that makes generic cartridges useless. Basically they want you to buy HP original cartridges.

New printers have tank cartridges that can last for more than a year for normal home office use. For me it was best of both words - versatility and portability of all in one ink jet printer and longer life of laser printer.
