How to store music on Apple watch?

Is there any way to listen to music on an Apple watch without an iPhone?

I have music files in the Readdle Documents app on an iPhone but can't find a method of transferring them on to the Apple Watch.

I don't subscribe to Spotify or Apple music, both of which can be added to the inbuilt music app.

I mean to store music on the watch, similar to podcasts, for when I'm out for a run or walk and don't want to carry the phone

I've tried this but it doesn't work - I typed in 'Documents' 'Readdle' and the title of the captured YouTube video but nothing came up.

Any other ideas?

I'm never stuck for an auld idea I use this and it works *but* there are a few caveats that may not suit you.

I have a Series 4 with watchOS 5.2.1 but a Series 3 should run the same OS and work too. I'm not so sure about Series 1 & 2 watches.
