How to prove paying rent-paid in cash!!

I've been sharing a house for the past 4 years. I paid my half of the rent every month in cash to the other person i was sharing with,(stupid I know) the rent then went by direct debit from the other persons a/c.

The problem is i didnt have a rent book and have no evidence of paying rent apart from monthly withdrawals i made to pay the rent.

I need evidence of paying rent as part of a mortgage application.

Any advice would be great.

Could you not get all your statements and highlight where the large withdrawal was made on a consistent monthly basis over the 4 years to show you were paying it?

This coupled with a letter from your landlord stating you did pay it every month may be enough to convince them?

Just ask for a rent book from your landlord and have it backdated.
