Hi All,
I have a question regarding my friends daughter inheriting the family home in the future
The value of my friends house is currently approx €700,000, this would mean that if in the future her only child inherited the house her daughter would have to pay 33% on anything above the parent to child threshold of €335,000 therefore being left with a significant CAT bill.
Am I correct in saying that if the daughter continues to live with her mother until she inherits then she could apply for dwelling house relief if the house was her principal residence and only home meaning she would not have to pay the CAT bill?
Is my thinking above correct?
Thank you for any feedback
