Going to be in New York next week and as the Breeders Cup is on I thought it would be an opportunity to go to Belmont Park. Just wondering if anyone with experience of NY can tell me if it's difficult to get there and how long it would take from Manhattan?

Any advice appreciated.

This gives you a map , it also has a route planner but I couldn't get it to work , it may need a street address in Manhattan.

Belmont Park is on Long island in the general direction of JFK

Your best bet might be to get a cab - it shouldn't be too expensive. Alternatively go to Penn station and get an LIRR train to Bellerose Station - you might need to check the timetable of the trains but it's usually pretty good

Thanks lads, much appreiciate the feedback. Just got the tickets on ebay so now all I need is a few winners :)
