How to get rid of bad smell in fridge

Our fridge freezer stopped working a couple of weeks ago and was off for about 3 days before we got it working again. Despite giving it a thorough cleaning while it wasn't working and again since, there's a bad smell coming from the fridge.

Any ideas on how to get rid of it??

Have you tried putting an onion cut in half in? Supposed to be good for removing smells, .. even the smell of onions!

Put some baking soda mixed with water in a little bowl or egg cup in back of fridge and smell should disappear, also works with no water in it.

Something similar happened to me a year or so back, bad smell was driving me nuts.

I suggest that you pull out the fridge and check the back, to see if there is a drainage area - you most likely have a plastic container full of stagnant water from where the fridge defrosted!

cut a lemon in two and place the peices on the middle shelf, works great

Would definately take everythnig out of the fridge to make sure something "bad" isn't lurking there. Then would second the baking soda or the lemon.
