Hi, at the moment Im on a 3 broadband connection. However I have now got an wireless connection.
Can anyone tell me how will I establish if my laptop is set up to use wifi?
I have it installed but it wont connect, for the moment Im back on the 3 network.
thanks

Is your laptop wireless enabled? Look in device manager (network adaptors) or see if you have the wireless symbol (antennae) anywhere on the hardware. Have you checked to see its switched on (sometimes on an Function Key or may be a little switch somewhere on your laptop).

thanks, going to check for that switch now..Im connecting with the wireless modem but it then shows on X ,ie; pc home-----wireless ---X--internet

Ok, go to windows search (bottom left) and type in wireless. Any result?

If it's not wireless, you will need to buy a wireless adapter (USB) - Belkin make one.

There should be a set up wizard that will do it step by step.

Switch off the laptop, unplug the 3 modem and leave it unplugged.

Then switch on the laptop.

Then wait and see if the laptop discovers your WiFi network. It may also find other people's networks, so be sure you know what yours is called and select that one.

If it does, then enter your WEP or WPA key when requested, you would have set this up when you installed your WiFi router.

All going well, you should be good to go.
