Does anyone have any tips on how to eliminate red eyes in photos - especially if shots are taken relatively close up with a flash ? I have lost the manufacturers handbook that came with my digital camera, and am wondering if there is a button on the camera to help solve the problem ? I vaguely remember reading something somewhere about it.

Is there a flash setting that has an icon of an eye?
This will cause the flash to fire multiple times when taking the picture, reducing (although not always eliminating) red eye.

Otherwise photo editing software have functions to remove red eye

Even if there's nothing on your camera that solves the problem, many of the programs that you can use to file/share pics on your computer have an edit function that'll eliminate red-eye.

Take a second picture straight away, pupils should contract reducing the effect. Better still, use an external flash, or a camera with the flash positioned further away from the lense.
