Two years ago my Mortgage was transferred from bank to vulture fund, an interest and portion of capital mortgage with balance of capital being paid at the end of 15 year term. Now a problem as term of mortgage will come to end shortly, I saved considerable amount to cover balance of mortgage but not enough to cover the entire balance, leaving remaining balance of €190,000. Unfortunately the balance today represents the negative equity in the house ( bought the house at top of the market in Celtic tiger era ). I spoke with the fund team, mentioning reduction on balance, how do I handle the situation? I find it hard to get in touch & difficult to negotiate with the fund team. Is it advisable to get professional advisor to negotiate ?
Appreciate any advice,
Thank you

How important is retaining the family home to you?

Which of the following best describes your situation?

I don't care about keeping the family home.
I would like to keep it, but will get rid of it if it means I can get rid of the mortgage associated with it.
I really want to keep the family home even if it means having a large mortgage and negative equity for years to come.

Any other relevant information

What is your preferred realistic outcome?

For example: "I will never be in a position to repay the home loan. So I want to sell the house and deal with the shortfall"
